Our Story

Stampede opened its doors for the first time in 2005. Since then we have gone from strength to strength winning multiple awards including winning Drapers Independent Retailer of the year award consecutively in 2023 and 2024. 2020 Stampede won New Children’s Independent Retailer of the Year at The National Footwear Industry Awards. In 2015 we moved to our current town centre location, giving us plenty of space to expand our children’s clothing range to sit alongside our extensive range of footwear. I took over the business in 2017 shortly after becoming a mother and sadly thereafter being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. As a mother and with a background in anatomy, I believed the children’s footwear industry was a perfect fit for my career progression. This also allows me to adapt (using my strong team) as my Parkinson’s worsens.

Stampede stocks many different brands from all over the world with a strong emphasis on beautiful European designs from cool to school. Our broad range allows us to cater not only for different tastes and styles but also different foot shapes and needs. We are members of the society of shoe-fitters and offer specialist shoe fitting for orthotics and special needs.

All our staff have a passion for providing excellent customer service and are fully trained Shoefitters. Our team takes a real interest in you and your children. The children love our play house under the stairs full of toys. The house changes through the seasons (beach hut, pirate ship, gingerbread house) making it extra fun for the kids to explore. It all helps to make your child feel comfortable and provides a great distraction for accompanying siblings. We make the shoe shopping experience a fun experience.

In the current financial climate, we understand the difficulties parents are facing. We have a variety of stock to suit all pockets. We also reward our loyal customers with a £15 voucher within a point-based scheme. In addition to this we offer a twins discount and have a refer a friend scheme which entitles both parties to 10% off.

We thank you for choosing to shop with our small independent business and look forward to welcoming you in store soon.

Donna and the Stampede team.

My fabulous team

I have a fabulous team. I would like to introduce them to you.

I asked them all to tell me their favourite shoe and for fun and giggles, could they tell us their favourite biscuit. This is what they said...

Kath

Hi, I’m Katharine. I’ve been at Stampede since 2012 when my youngest started school so I’ve fitted a fair few feet over the years! In my spare time, when I’m not doing mum stuff and spending time with family and friends, I love to travel, cook, read and dance.
Favourite shoe at Stampede: I love all the Shoesme trainers – such soft leather and gorgeous styles.
Favourite biscuit: Can I have cake instead?

Holly

Hey, I’m Holly! In my spare time I enjoy painting with acrylics, being outdoors and spending time with my cat, Elijah. I express myself through tattoos and creative hair colours and styles. I also like going to see live music and exploring new food.
Favourite shoe at Stampede: Start-Rite Strike
Favourite biscuit: Fox’s Viennese

Hey, I’m Lily! I currently study Biology, Chemistry, and English A-Levels and an EPQ at school and am planning to study medicine at university. In my free time, I am a volunteer young leader at Rainbows and Brownies (Girlguiding), as well as a Peer Educator and a Ranger. I love to read and hang out with my two sausage dogs, Otto and Rudi. I also love to fundraise for the Brain Tumour Charity as I had a brain tumour as a child – I have raised over £5,000!

Katy

Hey, my name’s Katy! I have many hobbies - some would say too many – that, along with homework, consume most of my free time. When I’m not crocheting or sewing, I love to settle down with a good fantasy book. Not only do I have a wide range of hobbies, my A-level subjects are also all over the place. I do Physics, Classical Civilisations and Psychology and thoroughly enjoy all of them!
Favourite shoe at Stampede: Ricosta Kimi boot – my favourite is the green and yellow colour way, so adorable!
Favourite biscuit: Ginger nuts!

Sofia

Hello! I am currently taking Business, Sociology and Spanish A-level and am planning on attending university in 2025/26. In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, riding my horse (Rosie), and listening to music, my favourite genres being R&B soul and house jazz. I have also had a consuming interest in fashion since I was young, expressed through my outfits and ample shopping habits.
Favourite shoe at Stampede: Ricosta Harry school shoe – they are a soft, lightweight, and practical shoe. A perfect transition shoe from velcro into lace ups.
Favourite biscuit: Caramel digestives

Isabella

Hiya, I’m Isabella! I am currently studying English Literature, Geography, and Media Studies A-level, along with an EPQ. In the future I hope to explore my interests in film as a career. I love to dance and have been doing it since I was five with cascade dance school. I enjoy listening to music, walking my dog (Bailey) and hanging out with my friends.

Hi, I’m Esme! I love reading, scouting, and going for runs with Posie – my very playful puppy! I love sociology and would love to work in patient advocacy, or a job helping people. Outside of Stampede, I am currently on a youth panel with Southampton University, working with other teenagers to give our ideas about current research. Favourite shoe at Stampede: Geox Pavel – I love the funky and cool design!
Favourite biscuit: Party Rings
